Torlon® (PAI) polyamide-imide

Facts About Torlon® (PAI)

Torlon® (PAI) polyamide-imide has a superior resistance to elevated temperatures. Parts machined from Torlon provide greater compressive strength and higher impact resistance than most advanced engineering plastics.

Torlon’s extremely low coefficient of linear thermal expansion and high creep resistance deliver excellent dimensional stability over its entire use range. Torlon is an amorphous material with a glass transition temperature of 537 degrees F.

Key Features of Torlon® (PAI)

  • Maintains strength and stiffness to 500 Degrees F.
  • Minimal expansion rate to 500 Degrees F.
  • Excellent wear resistance in bearing grades
  • Capable of enduring harsh thermal, chemical, and stress conditions

Key Applications of Torlon® (PAI)

  • Labyrinth seals
  • Bearing cages
