Experts in Plastics CNC Machining

High-Speed Plastics Machining

At Piedmont CMG, we have decades of plastics machining experience across nearly every technique, material, and equipment known to the industry. We only utilize the latest technology in CNC machining, lathes, CAD programming, cutters, and high-speed spindles. “Machining” of plastics actually incorporates a variety of processes and techniques employed to produce parts from a wide variety of plastic materials. Our extensive experience manufacturing plastic parts for a broad range of industries and applications makes us very proud of our work – we consistently machine to tight tolerances and specifications using high-performance plastics, engineering plastics, and standard/commodity plastic across both the amorphous and semi-crystalline spectrum.

Classification of Plastics

Machining High-Performance Plastics

This group of advanced plastics exhibit exceptional thermal, physical, and chemical properties for the most demanding applications. From space exploration to laboratories, from aeronautics to pharmaceuticals – there is a high-performance plastic for your application.

Machining Engineering Plastics

The engineering plastics possess better thermal, physical, and/or chemical properties than the standard/commodity plastics, yet don’t have the extreme properties found in high-performance plastics. These are typically used for their simplicity in manufacturing and for replacing traditional materials like wood or metals.

Machining Standard Plastics

Standard (commodity) plastics include the most widely used plastics across the globe, including materials like polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) – also known as acrylic.
